Post-call breakfast at The Oakwood

There are not too many days when there are multiple pediatric residents on the same night. One of the benefits of the on-call slumber party is post-call breakfast. On the recommendation of a local Winnipeger, we trouped over to The Oakwood in our morning no-sleep daze.

The restaurant is located on Osborne street south. I am told this is a older neighbourhood and was a precursor, of sorts, to the current Osborne. The restaurant is your classic diner with only a few options (during the weekdays).
Coffee is a must. I am usually a one-cup a day individual but I was chugging these bad boys down. Unlimited refills, just like it should be.
As mentioned, they have a fairly limited menu for breakfast. Geared towards the rise and shiners, the simple but tasty menu allows for quick turnaround times.

I went with the Ham & Cheese Omelette. A two egg omelette, two pieces of toast and a bunch of potato wedges. Altogether unassumingly simple. Definitely a good start to the beginning of the day.
